Rescue 1, Engine 19, Medic 27 and Walterboro Public Safety Units responded to a tractor Trailer vs car MVC at the intersection of Sniders Hwy (SC Hwy. 63) and Beach Road at 08:50, 1-July.  A elderly Florida man pulled into the path of north bound tractor trailer and struck in the side behind the driver's door. The small car received heavy damage and was thrown to the shoulder on the west side of the intersection. The unconscious driver received critical injuries and was trapped in the wreckage. County firefighters used Holmatro Rescue Tools to extricate the driver. He was treated at the scene by Medic 27's crew. The Meducare helicopter was requested for transport to a Trauma Center.
 
Walterboro Engine 2 established a landing zone in the field next to Faith Baptist Church. Meducare flew to the site and transported the patient to MUSC.
