Stations 5 and 19 responded to a two vehicle accident on Jefferies Hwy. at the intersection of Augusta Hwy. (Canadys Crossroads) Thursday afternoon 5-March at 1259. A small Saturn collided with a BMW motorcycle in the intersection injuring two people. The operator of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and suffered head injuries as well as other trauma related injuries. A passenger in the Saturn complained of leg and hip pain as a result to the crash. Both patients were treated at the scene by Medic 19. The motorcycle driver was transported to a nearby field and was flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston by Lifenet 3. The woman in the Saturn was transported by ambulance to Colleton Medical Center. Engine 19 assisted Firefighter-Paramedics at the accident scene, while Engine 5 set up a landing zone at the baseball field at Augusta Hwy. and Maggies Farm Lane.

Engine 5, Engine 19, Medic 19, Truck 110 and Truck 12 responded. Engineer-EMT-I Chuck Moyer served as Incident Commander. Fire Marshal Roger Johnston handled the landing zone.
