Stations 26 and 27 responded to a shooting incident at the intersection of Rivers Street and Madison Street south of Walterboro, Sunday night 13-December at 2308. This was the second shooting incident to occur Sunday. Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a report of two people shot near the intersection of Rivers Street and Madison Street. Multiple 9-1-1 calls reported that several people were running from the scene. Law Enforcement arrived shortly thereafter but didn’t find any victims. Shell casing littered the intersection of Rivers and Madison Streets. Medics 26 and 27 responded to the area along with Battalion 1. Medic 27 was directed by Law Enforcement to a residence on Madison Street to examine a woman who was having a panic attack due to the gun fire.

Several minutes later, Medic 26 was diverted to the intersection of Carn Street and Geridieu Street for one of the victims. The location is approximately ½ mile from the original incident. A 23 year old male with a single gunshot wound to his right arm was at a residence near the intersection. The wound was not life threatening and he was in stable condition. The ambulance quickly treated him at the scene and left the location. He was transported to Colleton Medical Center with one Sheriff’s Deputy on board.

The earlier shooting occurred at 5043 Augusta Hwy at 0350. It is reported to have been the result of a domestic dispute. An adult male received a minor injury when a single pellet from a shot gun struck him in a finger. He and the shooter we both transported to Colleton Medical Center by Medic 18. The other man received injuries when he was struck by a bat.
