Colleton County Fire-Rescue

6/14/2010

Station #26 responded to a high speed, single vehicle MVC on I-95 at the 55 mile marker southbound, Monday afternoon, 14-June at 1244. The southbound Chevrolet pickup truck lost control and struck the guard rail. The truck flipped over at least once, coming to rest on it’s wheels before catching on fire. All three occupants, which included two children were wearing seatbelts. The three received very minor injuries and escaped the vehicle of their accord. Engine 26 arrived to find the truck down an embankment, well involved in fire. Firefighters stretched one 1-3/4 CAFS line, bringing the fire under control within minutes. Firefighter-Paramedics from Medic 26 treated the patients at the scene, but medical transport to the hospital was not necessary. Traffic on I-95 southbound was limited to one lane for about an hour.

Engine 26, Medic 26 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
