“B” Shift – Structure Fire

Run # 10-04906 - Stations 9 and 11 were dispatched to a residential fire alarm at 2287 Rhode Drive, Saturday afternoon 4-September at 13:14. Engine 9 and Medic 9 arrived to find light smoke coming from the single story dwelling. The response was upgraded to a full structural response adding Stations 2 and 19. Firefighters quickly found moderate smoke conditions coming from a utility room at the rear of the structure. One 1-3/4 handline was deployed and used to knock down the fire in the utility room. The power was isolated to the room before firefighters began removing the paneling from the wall. The fire, which originated in an outlet for the clothes dryer, had extended to the ceiling behind the paneling. Crews removed the paneling in the area of the fire and extinguished the flames, before moving to the attic. In the attic, they encountered a heavy stock pile of stored materials. Firefighters spent 15 minutes removing items from the attic to reach the area above the utility room. The extension was minor and had not spread into the attic, nor to the adjacent kitchen. Damage to the home was minor and no one was injured during the incident.

Engine 9, Engine 11, Tender 2, Tender 9, Tender 19, Medic 9, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Lieutenant Jimmy Jacques served as Incident Commander.
