“A” Shift – Shooting Incident with Air Evacuation

Incident # 10-06417 - Station 1 responded to a shooting incident at 308 Chaplin Street, Friday morning 26-November at 11:11. Walterboro Public Safety Officers cleared the scene prior to the arrival of Medic 1 and Battalion 1. A 20 year old male victim was found on the front porch of the residence with two wounds to his leg, possibly from a single gunshot. Firefighter-Paramedics controlled his moderate bleeding, splinted his extremity and established an IV prior to transporting the man to Colleton Medical Center. CMC Staff had already contacted Lifenet 3 to fly the man to the Trauma Center at MUSC. On arrival at the ED, he was stabilized, then transferred by Lifenet 3.  

Medic 1, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.

 

This was the second shooting incident in less than 8 hours. In the earlier incident, two people were shot at the Camelot Lounge located at 11482 Augusta Hwy near Canadys at 03:30. A third man was also injured in the incident. All three travelled to Colleton Medical Center by private auto. One patient was treated for life threatening injuries and flown by medical helicopter to the Trauma Center at MUSC. The second man, who received multiple gunshot wounds was stabilized at CMC and transferred by Fire-Rescue Medic 26 to the Trauma Center at MUSC. The third person left the hospital without being treated. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case.
