02/24/2010 – “A” Shift – Woods Fire       

Incident # 11-01089 – A large woods fire kept firefighters busy Thursday afternoon, 24-Feb. At 12:53 9-1-1 Operators received several reports of a “big” fire in the 400 block of Jesse Lane in the Mol Senia Subdivision. Engine 9 arrived advising of a multi-acre, fast moving brush fire endangering multiple homes and requested additional units as well as Forestry. Firefighters used multiple handlines from several pieces of apparatus and fire rakes, flaps and back packs to contain the blaze. The Forestry Commission responded with a surveillance plane and one tractor. Units worked the fire for 2 hours before it was extinguished.

Engine 9, Engine 19, Tender 9, Tender 903, Brush 2 and Battalion 1 responded. Lt. Jimmy Jacques served as Incident Commander.
