03/27/2011 – “A” Shift – Structure Fire

Incident # 11-01773 – An early morning fire has displaced a Pynes Community family. Firefighters responded to 161 Adrian Lane at 03:48 Sunday morning 27-March. Engine 6 and Medic 6 arrived to find the totally destroyed singlewide mobile home in ashes. Much of the fire had already burned out, leaving just the frame rails in ¾ of the building’s remains. Crewmembers deployed two 1-3/4 handlines to cool the ashes and overhaul the remaining ¼ of the building. Adrian Lane is a dead end dirt road located in a very rural, remote area of southern Colleton County. The fire occurred during a thunderstorm. Firefighters were able to locate the family, who were vacationing in North Carolina. Fire units were on the scene for two hours. The cause of the fire in under investigation.

Engine 6, Engine 8, Tender 6, Tender 8, Tender 25, Medic 6, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Firefighter-EMT Phillip Crow served as Incident Commander.
