05/10/2011 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 11-02610 – At 02:28, Tuesday morning 10-May, Fire-Rescue units were dispatched to a house fire located at 538 Fifth Street in the Foxfield Subdivision. Engine 19 arrived to find a singlewide mobile home approximately 80% involved. The roof in the center of the structure had already collapsed. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines, making an exterior attack on the fire. The flames were knocked down within 15 minutes, allowing firefighters to enter the remains of the building. Crews stopped the spread of the fire as it reached the end bedroom. The room suffered heavy damage, but some personal property was salvageable. Due to a heavy fire load, overhaul took over an hour. The cause of the fire is under investigation, however the origin is suspicious in nature. Fire investigators contacted SLED to assist in the determining a cause. No one was home when the fire occurred. The occupant was staying with a relative. Engine 19, Engine 24, Tender 1, Tender 12, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic Chris Jones served as Incident Commander.
