06/01/2011 – MVC with injuries – “B” Shift

Incident # 11-03009 – A seatbelt is credited with saving the life of a 21 year old man following a high speed MVC on Possum Corner Road. The northbound Jeep Cherokee left the roadway in a curve, then struck a tree, before over-turning multiple times. The vehicle received heavy damage in the collision and came to rest upright on the southbound shoulder. The accident was reported at 0918 just north of Saratoga Lane. The driver received multiple non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and immobilized at the scene, then transported by Medic 6 to Colleton Medical Center. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 1, Rescue 1, Medic 6, Battalion 1 and Car 117 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
