06/05/2011 – MVC with ejection – “C” Shift

Incident # 11-03095 - A twenty eight year old Orangeburg man was left in critical condition after being ejected from a car at the 44 mile marker southbound Sunday afternoon 5-June. The single vehicle accident occurred on I-95 at 1454. The southbound SUV left the roadway and struck a tree in the median. The vehicle then flipped over, ejecting the driver in the process. Two females, one sixteen and the other eight were also injured in the crash. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived a short time later, finding the man approximately 50 feet from the vehicle on the northbound side of the highway near the road. All three patients were treated at the scene and transported to Colleton Medical Center by Medic 1. The man was stabilized in the Emergency Department, then transferred by Lifenet 3 medical helicopter to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. Family members picked up the two juveniles from the hospital. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 1, Medic 1, Battalion 1 and Car 117 responded. Battalion Chief Dan Barb served as Incident Commander.
