01-29-2012 – Stabbing Incident – “C” Shift

Incident # 12-00536 – A 51 year old man was left in critical condition following a domestic incident at 217 Bodison Memorial Drive. The man who was asleep, was awaken when a family member began stabbing him with a knife. He was able to fight off his attacker, but received over a dozen stab wounds to the chest, abdomen, neck and arm. Another family member was controlling the bleeding when Firefighter-Paramedics arrived. Medic 9 and Engine 9 crewmembers treated the patient at the scene, which included bandaging and multiple IVs. A medical helicopter was called. The patient was transported to a field near Round O Road and Bodison Memorial Drive to meet with Lifenet 4. He was flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The Sheriff’s Office arrested the suspect at the scene.

Engine 9, Medic 9 and Battalion 1 responded. Acting Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander.
