02/03/2012 - Grass and Storage Building Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 12-00649 – A grass fire destroyed a 12x12 storage building Friday afternoon 03-February at 14:45. Firefighters responded to 1805 Green Pond Highway to find the small structure full involved. Engine 8 deployed one 1-3/4 handline to extinguish the fire. The fire originated from an unattended  yard debris fire that spread due to light winds. The fire damaged approximately half an acre of woods/grass in addition to destroying the building. The fire was under control in less than ten minutes. Firefighters were on the scene for 35 minutes.

Engine 1, Engine 8, Tender 22 and  Car 12 responded. Deputy Chief David Greene served as Incident Commander.

 

Incident # 12-000688 – A grass fire spread through a yard, endangering a home and destroying a gazebo on Depot Road near Hamwalk Lane in Cottageville at 06:31, Saturday morning 04-February. Firefighters used two handlines from two apparatus to contain the fire. Crews had the fire under control with 15 minutes and prevented any damage to the home.

Engine 9, Engine 902, Engine 11, Tender 9, Tender 19, Medic 9 and Battalion 1 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic Matt Parler served as Incident Commander.
