02/08/2012 – Vehicle Structure Fire – “B” Shift

Incident # 12-00752 – A burning vehicle damaged two storage buildings located at 3987 Possum Corner Road Wednesday afternoon 08-February at 14:25. The incident was reported as a vehicle fire, however when Engine 1 and Medic 1 arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from two storage buildings as well. The Chevrolet automobile was behind the structures and fully involved. The fire spread into the larger of the two buildings igniting items stored inside, but only damaged the exterior of the smaller building. The occupant ran an auto repair shop from his home, so the buildings contained parts, tools and other stored materials. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines, one to extinguish the car and the second to attack the fire in the larger 12x30 building. They had the fire under control within ten minutes and canceled other responding apparatus. The vehicle was completely destroyed and most of the damage to the building was contained to the “B” and “C” walls and items near the rear of the structure. No injuries were reported.

Engine 1, Engine 6, Tender 1, Tender 6, Medic 1, Battalion 1 and Car 117 responded. Firefighter-EMT Jason Benton served as Incident Commander.
