05/27/2012 – Structure Fires – “C” Shift

Incident # 12-02833 – Firefighters were called to 759 Misty Ridge Lane Sunday afternoon at 17:55, 27-May for the report of a structure and woods fire. The remote single lane dirt road is located in northern Colleton County and only has one other residence located on the road. Engine 26 arrived 10 minutes later to find a four acre woods fire and multiple structures that had already burned. One home and four other buildings on the property had burned hours before, with only the smoldering ruins remaining. All five buildings were completely destroyed with all combustible materials burned out. Firefighters extinguished several hot spots and requested a Forestry Tractor for the woods fire. It was not immediately unclear if the buildings caught fire, then spread to the woods or vice versa. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Engine 5, Engine 17, Engine 26, Tender 5, Tender 19, Tender 17, Tender 26, Medic 26 and Battalion 1 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic Justin Warko served as Incident Commander.
