07/03/2012 – Logging Equipment Fire – “A” Shift

Incident # 12-03586 – A piece of heavy equipment used to cut trees, was destroyed after the engine compartment caught fire. Stations 5 and  19 were alerted to the fire in the woods off of the 7700 block of Sidneys Road at 13:13, Tuesday 3-July. On arrival, Firefighters found they could not access the burning vehicle from the roadway. Crews requested ARFF 19, due to its off road abilities. The ARFF arrived approximately 15 minutes later and was able to drive into the woods near the burning equipment. The deck gun quickly knocked down the fire. Firefighters then deployed one 1-3/4 handline from the ARFF to finish extinguishing the fire. Units were on the scene over an hour.

Engine 5, Engine 19, Tender 19, ARFF 19, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 119 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic (Acting Battalion Chief)  Brian Rowe served as Incident Commander.
