07/06/2012 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 12-03643 – A reported tree fire turned out to be a building burning on Risher Mountain Road Friday morning 6-July at 04:12. Station 26 was originally dispatched to a tree on fire near the 62 mile marker southbound by a motorist on the Interstate. Once in the area, Engine 26 noticed the fire off of the 600 block of Risher Mountain Road and responded to that location. On arrival they found a single story wood frame structure on fire, with flames through the roof on the “A” side of the building. The incident was upgraded to a structural response bring additional apparatus and personnel to the scene. Two 1-3/4 handlines were deployed to the building. Exterior crews quickly knocked down the fire, allowing other firefighters to enter the structure through an open door. The interior of the building was uncompleted, allowing firefighters on the inside to douse the flames in a short period of time. The fire had a suspicious origin. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 5, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 107 responded. Firefighter-EMT Brian Wilson served as Incident Commander.
