13/November/2012 - Tractor Trailer MVC - "B" Shift

Incident # 12-06214 - Two northbound tractor trailers collided near the 59 mile marker Tuesday afternoon 13-November at 12:58. According to witnesses, traffic was slowing in the area, when a northbound car carrier traveling at a high speed ran into the back of stopped box style trailer causing heavy damage to both vehicles. The cab of the car carrier was crushed as the engine was pushed in the passenger compartment. The driver suffered multiple non-life threatening traumatic injuries. A good Samaritan stopped to assist the injured driver and controlled his bleeding before the arrival of Fire-Rescue. The driver was treated at the scene by Medic 26 before being transported to Colleton Medical Center. Traffic on I-95 was down to one lane for about an hour. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 26, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
