10/March/2013 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift

Incident # 13-01256 – A singlewide mobile home was heavily damaged by an early evening fire at 2590 Burlington Road Sunday 10-March at 19:16. Engine 19 arrived to find the building approximately 30% involved. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines and had the bulk of the fire knocked down within five minutes. Crews made a search of the residence through heavy smoke but there was no one at home. Most of the fire damage was contained to one end of the building, but the remainder of the home suffered heavy heat and smoke damage. The resident was away when the fire occurred. Investigators determined the fire originated in the area of an extension cord in the bedroom which ran along the front wall. Units were on the scene from about an hour and a half.

Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 5, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
