18/April/2013 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift

Incident # 13-02052 – Firefighters spent nearly 35 minutes bringing a large mobile home fire under control Thursday morning 18-April. At 09:49, 9-1-1 Operators received a report from a neighbor that the home located at 201 Daniels Lane was on fire. The long narrow, dead end dirt road presented some access problems for apparatus. Engine 26, stationed less than a mile from the scene, arrived quickly to find the 36 x 80 structure with heavy smoke and flames visible. Firefighters deployed one 2-1/2 and two 1-3/4 handlines to combat the fire. Crews initially entered the building through the front door, but they had to exit due to high heat conditions. Firefighters then worked from the exterior of the building until the fire was knocked down enough to re-enter the structure. The fire was stopped near the living room, saving the master bedroom and most items in that room. No one was at home when the fire occurred and no injuries were reported. A second alarm was issued for additional personnel approximately 10 minutes after the first units arrived. Water supply was conducted with a Tender shuttle. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Engine 4, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 4, Tender 5, Tender 17, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 110 and Car 111 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
