23/May/2013 – High Speed MVC – “A” Shift

Incident # 13-02741 – Three Philadelphia men fortunately survived a harrowing collision with a tractor trailer Thursday morning 23-May. The accident occurred at 07:58 on I-95 near the 44 mile marker southbound. The three men were riding in a Nissan Maxima when the driver lost control, entered the median and overcorrected. As the car came back on the roadway it drove under the trailer of a loaded southbound semi-truck and became wedged at the tandem rear axles. The small car was dragged over an 1/8 mile before the truck could come to a stop. All three men, who were in their mid 20’s suffered non-life threatening traumatic injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics treated and bandaged the patients at the scene, but all three refused transport to the hospital. Southbound traffic on I-95 near the accident was slowed to one lane for an hour and half. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 1, Engine 8, Medic 1 and Car 105 responded. Deputy Chief David Greene served as Incident Commander.
