03/September/2013 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift

Incident # 13-04813 – Firefighters saved a mobile home Tuesday afternoon at a residence located at 13 Shallowford Road. The fire was reported at 18:04 during a severe thunderstorm. Responding units had a slight delay due to high winds and heavy rain. Battalion 1 arrived to find light smoke coming from the doublewide mobile home with flames visible through a side window. Engine 26 deployed one 1-3/4 handline, with crews entering through the front door. They found a bathroom well involved, with flames extending into the hallway. The fire was quickly brought under control and isolated to the bathroom and hall just outside the bathroom. A PPV fan was used to ventilate the home. The house suffered light smoke damage and heat damage, but most items in the home were saved. The fire started in the air handler next to the bathroom. No injuries were reported.

Engine 18, Engine 26, Engine 27, Tender 1, Tender 18, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 18, Battalion 1 and Car 105 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
