11/September/2013 – Stabbing Incident with Air Evac. – “A” Shift 

Incident # 13-04972 – Fire-Rescue was sent to 111 Eddie Chasteen Drive, the NAPA Auto Parts Store, for a 57 year old man who was stabbed on nearby Hiers Corner Road. The incident was reported at 16:47, Wednesday afternoon 11-September. Firefighter-Paramedics found the man seated on the ground next to the building. He received a single wound to the left lower chest and was having difficulty breathing. Crews quickly treated the man at the scene and requested a medical helicopter. Medic 1 transported him to the helipad of Colleton Medical Center where LifeNet 4 is stationed. His treatment continued enroute, as his condition continued to deteriorate. He was transferred to the Flight Crew without incident, then flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC. Walterboro Public Safety is investigating the incident.  

Medic 1, Battalion 1, Car 12, Car 105 and Car 118 responded. Chief McRoy served as Incident Commander.
