28/October/2013 – MVC w/ejection & Air Evac – “C” Shift

Incident # 13-05881 – A 46 year old man received life threatening head injuries in a single car crash in the 6000 block of Sidneys Road, Monday evening 28-October. At 21:00, 9-1-1 received multiple calls reporting an overturned vehicle with a person being ejected. Engine 19 and Medic 19 arrived to find the small car overturned in the roadway, blocking traffic. The patient was found outside of the vehicle. He was treated at the scene, while Firefighter-Paramedics checked on the availability of a medical helicopter. The man was immobilized, then transported to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with LifeNet 4. He was flown to the trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 19, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Firefighter-EMT Bryan Bishop served as Incident Commander.
