29/April/2014 – Four Wheeler Accident with Air Evac – “C” shift

Incident # 14-02672 – A 48 year old woman received critical injuries in a four wheeler accident Tuesday afternoon 29-April. Witnesses advised the woman fell from a four wheeler and then the vehicle rolled on top of her. A piece of metal struck her abdomen. Firefighters from Station # 2 arrived quickly and began treating the woman and controlling her bleeding. When Medic 6 arrived they called for a medical helicopter. Firefighter-Paramedics continued her treatment, then transported the patient about one block away to a field where LifeNet 4 landed. The Flight Crew assisted with patient care, which included bleeding control, multiple IVs, O2 and RSI. The patient was moved to the helicopter, then flown in critical condition to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
