17/June/2014 – MVC with Air Evac – “A” Shift Incident 14-03580 – A single car accident resulted in
multiple traumatic injuries to a 31 year old female Tuesday evening 17-June.
At 19:57, Fire-Rescue was notified of an over-turned vehicle that was on
fire in the 18700 block of Augusta Hwy near Heaven’s Path Lane. Engine 9 and
Medic 9 arrived to find an over-turned minivan in the cemetery at this
location. There was no fire. The female driver complained of multiple
injuries and also suffered a head injury. A medical helicopter was requested
while Firefighter-Paramedics treated and immobilized the woman at the scene.
LifeNet 4 responded to a field near the accident site. The patient was
transported to the field, then transferred to the flight crew without
incident. She was flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. It
appeared the eastbound minivan drove off of the right side of the road,
over-corrected and lost control before entering the eastbound ditch. The van
struck and displaced a driveway culvert, causing the van to flip on its
roof. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Engine 9, Medic 9, Tender 9, Battalion 1 and Car 12
responded. Captain Dewayne Jacque served as Incident Commander. |
