01/October/2014 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift Incident # 14-05779 – At 10:16 01-Oct, Firefighter-EMT
Paul Bagley was returning home after a 24-hour shift. As he traveled along a
rural stretch of Augusta Hwy (SC Hwy 61) he noticed heavy black smoke in the
distance. Bagley determined the smoke was off of Youmans Lane, a dead end
dirt road, and went to investigate. He found a singlewide mobile at the end
of the road, fully involved and almost completely destroyed. Fire-Rescue
units responded, but there was little to be saved. Most of the structure,
including the floor had burned away. Firefighters used one 1-3/4 handline
and one booster line to extinguish the remaining fire and a small woods
fire. There was no power to the mobile home and it was believed to be
vacant. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Engine 5, Engine 26, Tender 5, Tender 7, Tender 26,
Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 12, Car 105, Car 107 and Car 117 responded. Asst.
Chief Marty Stallings served as Incident Commander. |
