10/March/2015 – MVC with Entrapment – “C” Shift

Incident # 15-01329 – A single car accident in the 4400 block of Ruffin Road sent a 53 year old woman to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon 10-March at 16:50. Witnesses noted the Chevrolet S-10 Pickup Truck was traveling east on Ruffin Road when it dropped off of the right shoulder. The vehicle overcorrected and skidded sideways before it began flipping over. The truck rolled over several times and came to rest upright on the railroad tracks. Due to the damage, the driver was trapped inside. Firefighter-Paramedics worked through the broken windows to treat the woman, while other crewmembers used Holmatro Rescue tools to remove the driver’s door. The patient was extricated with full spinal precautions, then transported to Colleton Medical Center for further treatment. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.  

Engine 26, Medic 18, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 12, Car 107, Car 117 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
