11/March/2015 – MVC with Overturned Vehicle – “A” Shift

Incident # 15-01356 – A two car collision injured five people, resulting in three being transported to Colleton Medical Center, Wednesday afternoon 11-March. At 15:15, Fire-Rescue was sent to the intersection of Sidneys Road and Thunderbolt Drive. Initial reports indicated one person was trapped and several children were injured. First arriving units found one SUV over-turned. Bystanders had already removed two children from the SUV. Both had minor injuries thanks to seatbelts and child seats. The driver found not to entrapped and was assisted from the car by a bystander and firefighters. An adult and child in the second vehicle also had non-life threatening injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics treated all patients at the scene and transported one adult and two children from the SUV. The two other patients denied ambulances transport to the hospital. The busy intersection was blocked for approximately 40 minutes. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.  

Ladder 19, Medic 19, Medic 26, Medic 102, Rescue 1, Car 12, Car 110 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Joey Campbell served as Incident Commander.
