06/May/2016 – MVC with Ejection – “C” Shift

Incident # 16-02756 – Three women were injured, one critically, in a high speed single car rollover accident Friday afternoon 06-May on Mount Carmel Road at Sigwald Lane. The accident was reported at 12:54, when a Ford Expedition traveling south on Mount Carmel Road lost control and flipped over several times. The SUV suffered heavy damage coming to rest on Sigwald Lane. A 19 year old female was ejected from the vehicle and found unconscious in a ditch. Firefighter-Paramedics worked diligently to secure her airway and treated her injuries, then transported her in Medic 1 directly to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical in Summerville. Two additional ambulances were assigned to the incident. Medic 19 transported a 21 year old female with suspected life threatening injuries to Trident Medical. The third patient who was 23, was transported by Medic 18 to Colleton Medical Center. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 26, Medic 1, Medic 18, Medic 19, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 107 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.  

07/May/2016 – Auto Pedestrian – “A” Shift

Incident # 16-02793 – A 32 year old female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on I-95 near the 68 mile marker southbound Saturday night 07-May at 23:30. The woman suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics on Medic 26. She was rapidly transported to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with a medical helicopter (LifeNet 4). After transferring the patient to the Flight Crew, the helicopter suffered a mechanical issue, so the patient was reloaded into Medic 26, then rapidly transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical in Summerville. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 26, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
