09/August/2016 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

Incident # 16-05148 – An Islandton home was completely destroyed in a morning fire Tuesday 09-August. At 10:00, a rural mail carrier discovered the single family dwelling at 1080 Golden Harvest Road almost burned out. The building, which is located on a rural, lightly traveled road, had been burning for some time before the fire was noticed. Engine 15, arrived to find that most of the building had already collapsed, with very little of the floor remaining. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines to extinguish the remaining debris. The home had been vacant for a few years and the homeowner was in the process of renovating the building. Crews were on the scene for 2 hours. The cause is under investigation.

Engine 4, Engine 15, Tender 15, Tender 18, Tender 23, Medic 18 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
