18/October/2016 – Fatal Auto Pedestrian MVC – “C” Shift

Incident # 16-06870 – A 73 year old Florida man died after being struck by a vehicle in the 1100 block of Sniders Hwy (SC Hwy 63) near Acorn Road Tuesday evening 18-October at 20:24. Witnesses advised the man stepped from the curb into the path of a westbound Honda Accord. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was not breathing when Firefighter-Paramedics arrived minutes later. Crews performed CPR and other resuscitative efforts at the scene, then rapidly transported him to Colleton Medical Center. He did not survive his injuries. No one in the car was injured. The man’s wife was also transported to CMC by Fire-Rescue. She was not injured in the accident. The Walterboro Police Department is investigating the crash.  

Engine 1, Medic 1, Battalion 1, Car 12, Car 110, Car 111 and Car 118 responded. Walterboro Engine 1 and Engine 2 also responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
