31/December/2016 – MVC with Entrapment – “B” Shift

Incident # 16-08592 – An adult female and two children were injured in a single car MVC on Bells Hwy at the intersection of Eddie Chasteen Drive Saturday evening 31-December at 22:45. The east bound car left the roadway in a curve, striking a large business sign before colliding with a power pole. The children received non-life threatening injuries and were able to exit the vehicle on their own. The female driver was trapped in the wreckage. She suffered multiple traumatic, non-life threatening injuries. County Firefighters used Holmatro Rescue Tools to force open the driver’s door and gain access to the female driver. All three occupants were transported to Colleton Medical Center by Fire-Rescue Medic 1. Walterboro Police Dept. is investigating the crash.  

Medic 1, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. WFD responded with two Engines. County Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
