Incident # 16-00336 – Two people were injured in a two vehicle high speed MVC in the 12000 block of Green Pond Hwy (SC Hwy 303) north of Ivenia Brown Dr. Saturday morning 14-Janaury at 10:55. Both vehicles were traveling south on Green Pond Hwy when a Jaguar struck a Hyundai minivan in the rear causing it to flip over at least twice. The minivan collided with the railroad crossing arm knocking it over, blocking the railroad tracks. The Jaguar continued south, across the railroad tracks and drove under a container trailer that was parked in front of Hickman’s store. The Jaguar then struck a power pole. Firefighter-Paramedics found both patients alert at the scene, complaining of various non-life threatening injuries. The 19 year old driver of the Jaguar and the 65 year old driver of the minivan were both transported to Colleton Medical Center by Medic 6. CSX Railroad was notified and stopped all rail traffic until an inspection team could evaluate the crossing and make repairs to the crossing arm device. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 2, Engine 6, Medic 6 and Car 109 responded. Asst. Chief Marty Stallings served as Incident Commander.
