02/March/2017 – Fatal MVC with entrapment – “B” Shift

Incident # 17-01379 – A 62 yr old Virginia man died from injuries received in a single car MVC on I-95 near the 63 mile marker southbound, Thursday morning 02-March at 04:12. Firefighter-Paramedics found the Ford Explorer near the tree line. The car left the roadway in light rain, drove down an embankment at a high rate of speed and struck several trees causing heavy damage to the small SUV. The driver, who had no signs of life, was trapped in the wreckage. The Coroner’s Office was notified and County Coroner Richard Harvey responded to the scene. When he and SCHP Troopers completed their scene investigations, Firefighters used Holmatro Rescue Tools to remove the driver’s door and extricate the driver. He was the only occupant in the car and was wearing a seatbelt.

Engine 26, Medic 26 and Car 109 responded. Engineer-EMT Cody Hutto served as Incident Commander.
