01/July/2017 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

Incident # 17-04479 – At 21:20 Saturday night 01-July, Fire-Rescue units were sent to 253 Jenkins Club Road east of Cottageville for a structure fire. A neighbor heard noises and upon walking down the road to investigate he discovered the residence on was ablaze. No one was at home when the fire occurred. Engine 9 arrived minutes later to find the triple wide mobile home approximately 60% involved with the roof in the rear of the structure already collapsed. Firefighters deployed multiple handlines to combat the fire. A tender shuttle was established for water supply. Crews worked for over 35 minutes to gain control of the fire and were on the scene for 5 hours performing overhaul. The cause of the fire appears to have been electrical in nature, possibly starting in the breaker box near the back door. The home suffered heavy damage and most of the family’s belongings were lost. The Red Cross is assisting the family.

Engine 2, Engine 9, Tender 2, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 34, Medic 9, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Firefighter-EMT Doug Law served as Incident Commander.
