13/December/2017 – Fall Injury with Air Evac – “A” Shift

Incident # 17-08525 – A 23 year old man was in critical condition following fall from a building under construction at the Walterboro Sewage Treatment Plant located at 777 Gervais Street Wednesday afternoon at 16:39. Bystanders advised the man fell approximately 15 feet from the building and landed on concrete. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries including a head injury. Two Fire-Rescue ambulances responded to the incident. The C.A.R.E. Flight medical helicopter was placed on standby while Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man. Both crews continued his treatment, with additional personnel on board Medic 26 while enroute to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center. The patient was briefly moved inside the ED at CMC to secure his airway, then flown by C.A.R.E. Flight to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.

Medic 1, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander.
