06/August/2018 – Fatal MVC – “B” Shift 

Incident # 18-05424 – A single car high speed MVC left one man dead and injured another after the passenger car left the roadway and struck a large tree in the 1000 block of Hiers Corner Road Monday morning 06-August at 01:18. The west bound vehicle was being pursued by Law Enforcement when the accident occurred. The passenger was ejected from the car and found deceased at the scene. The impact caused the car to split into two pieces. The driver was treated at the scene for multiple traumatic injuries and transported to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the C.A.R.E. Flight medical helicopter. The patient was transferred to the flight crew, then flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Hospital in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol’s MIAT Team is investigating the crash.

Engine 26, Medic 26, Rescue 1 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
