22/December/2018 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 18-08842 – At 20:37 Saturday evening December 22, several callers to 9-1-1 reported flames coming from a residence at 1107 Buffalo Lane. Engine 19 arrived 4 minutes later to find a singlewide mobile home approximately 40% involved with flames coming from the windows and doors in the center of the structure. A bystander advised a man may be inside. Firefighters deployed two handlines and made an aggressive attack on the fire entering the building through the front door. They knocked the bulk of the fire down in about five minutes. A search of the building found no occupants. The man was later located unharmed outside of the building and was not at home when the fire occurred. One Firefighter-Paramedic was injured, receiving second degree burns to one arm and hand. He was treated at the scene by fellow personnel and later at the hospital, but did not require hospitalization. Crews spent approximately 3 hours performing overhaul on the building. The fire was stopped in the middle of the mobile home, saving the bedrooms on each end. Many belongings and clothing were salvaged. The center of the home suffered extensive damage. It appeared the fire originated in the area of the fire place in the living room and spread to the adjacent rooms and ceiling space. Water supply was conducted with Tenders. The family’s church and the Red Cross is assisting the family.
