27/June/2019 – Fatal MVC with Fire – “B” Shift

Incident # 19-04448 – A 28 year old man died from multiple traumatic injuries after his motorcycle collided head-on with a Honda passenger car in the 5400 block of Charleston Highway (SC Hwy 64) Thursday afternoon 27-June at 16:50. Witnesses advised the east bound motorcycle crossed the center line and struck the west bound Honda, exploding into a fire ball on impact. The motorcycle driver was ejected into the roadway. The Honda received heavy damage with the front passenger suffering minor injuries. She was treated at the scene by Fire-Rescue Medic 19, then transported to Colleton Medical Center. The driver of the Honda was not injured. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived to find the motorcycle and some debris on fire. The motorcycle’s driver was in the roadway without any signs of life. Engine 2 deployed one handline to extinguish the fire, while other crew members treated the injured. Both lanes of Charleston Hwy were blocked due to the collision. The Coroner’s Office was notified and responded. Sheriff’s Deputies rerouted traffic to St. Peter’s Road for two hours while the SC Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
