03/July/2019 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

Incident # 19-04616 – Colleton Firefighters responded to a structure fire in an abandoned house at 492 Blue House Lane Wednesday evening 03-July. At 21:47, 9-1-1 received several reports of the fire with the callers advising a nearby mobile home was endangered. Engine 13 arrived to find the single story wood frame structure fully involved, with the nearby singlewide mobile home smoking. Both buildings were obstructed by thick brush. Firefighters deployed multiple handlines and protected the mobile home from further damage. The siding was removed on the corner of the mobile home and fire was found inside the wall. It was quickly extinguished. Crews worked for approximately 25 minutes to bring the other building under control. Fire units were on the scene for three hours. Water supply was handled with Tenders. The origin of the fire was suspicious in nature. County Fire Officials and the Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire. Engine 8, Engine 13, Tender 1, Tender 6, Tender 8, Tender 13, Tender 22, Tender 25, Tender 27, Medic 6, Medic 13, Battalion 1, Car 105, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander.
