25/October/2019 – Multi-vehicle MVC – “A” Shift 

Incident # 19-07515 – Eight people were injured in a three vehicle MVC at Sniders Crossroads, the intersection of Lowcountry Hwy  (US Hwy 21) and Sniders Hwy (SC Hwy 63), Friday afternoon 25-October at 16:21. A south bound Dodge Caravan traveling on Lowcountry Hwy, was attempting to elude Law Enforcement, when it ran through the four way stop and struck two vehicles. Four adults and a teenager in the Caravan received non-life threatening injuries. Four were transported by Fire-Rescue ambulances to Colleton Medical Center. One occupant refused ambulance transportation and was taken to the county jail. The driver of a full sized Ford Comcast Van was struck in the side, spun backwards and struck a power pole. The van suffered heavy damage in the collision. The driver was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics, then transported with multiple complaints by Fire-Rescue Medic 1 to Colleton Medical Center. The third vehicle, an Hummer H3 received minor damage, but a trailer it was pulling was destroyed. The load of large cut logs littered the intersection. Two small children in the H3 were transported to Colleton Medical Center for evaluation. Two adults in the same car did not require medical attention. The busy intersection was blocked for over an hour until the vehicles and debris could be removed. Law Enforcement Officers detoured traffic. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Walterboro Police is investigating the original criminal act that initiated the chase.  

Engine 15, Engine 18, Medic 1, Medic 7, Medic 13, Medic 18, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Captain Matthew Owen Williams, Jr. served as Incident Commander.
