29/April/2020 – Fatal MVC with Ejection – “B” Shift

Incident # 20-02873 – A single car MVC in the 7400 block of Sidneys Road claimed the life of an adult male Wednesday evening 29-April. The incident was reported at 23:49 after the southbound 2008 Mercury Mariner failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree. The collision caused heavy damage to the small SUV. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car and was found unconsiocus in the ditch near the front of the vehicle. The man suffered multiple traumatic injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics began treating the man at the scene and requested a medical helicopter. No helicopters could fly due to impending poor weather in the area. He was quickly immobilized and transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 19 to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. Two additional Firefighter-Paramedics assisted with his car during the transport. Crews administered blood, fluids and other medications while enroute to Trident, however the patient unfortunately did not survive his injuries. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 19, Medic 19, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Captain David Goins served as Incident Commander.
