27/August/2020 – Shooting Incident – “B” Shift

Incident # 20-05891 – Three people were injured in a shooting incident at Walterboro Village Apartments Thursday afternoon 27-August. At 18:29, 9-1-1 received reports of multiple shots fired at the complex located at 601 Green Pond Highway. Initial reports were of suspects in the parking lot shooting and a woman inside an apartment was struck and bleeding. Walterboro Police officers and Sheriff’s Deputies responded and secured the scene. Firefighter-Paramedics were directed to a 52 year old woman who was shot in the abdomen. She was quickly treated at the scene, then transported emergent by Fire-Rescue Medic 1 to the Trauma Center at Trident Hospital. A medical helicopter was not available to transport the woman. Law Enforcement Officers located a second victim inside another apartment. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the 34 year old male for a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to Colleton Medical Center by Fire-Rescue Medic 19. Law Enforcement located a third victim inside a third apartment. The 37 year old man received a grazing wound to the leg and did not wish to be transported to the hospital. He was treated at the scene and remained home. Walterboro Police was on the scene for over 4-1/2 hours investigating the incident.  

Medic 1, Medic 19, Medic 16, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
