05/September/2020 – Fatal Motorcycle MVC

A 23 year old Colleton County man died from injuries received in a dirt bike accident Saturday evening 05-September in the 1400 block of Risher Mountain Road. The man had been traveling northbound on Risher Mountain Rd on the Honda dirt bike when he failed to negotiate a curve on the dark secondary road, entered the ditch and struck a driveway culvert. At 22:31, 9-1-1 received several reports of the MVC advising the man was not breathing. Dispatchers provided CPR instructions to the callers who performed the procedure very well. The callers also provided good information regarding the incident prior to the arrival of First Responders. Fire-Rescue Medic 26 arrived a short time later. Firefighter-Paramedics quickly treated the man’s injuries at the scene and continued resuscitative efforts. He was transported emergent to Colleton Medical Center. The ED staff diligently continued to work on the man in efforts to revive him, but he did not survive his injuries. The SC Hwy Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 26, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
