11/March/2021 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Incident # 21-01713 - A Red Oak family was displaced following a fire that heavily damaged their home Thursday morning 11-March. At 11:09, 9-1-1 received several reports of an explosion with a house on fire in the 5000 block of Red Oak Road. One of the callers reported there were two people trapped inside. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later to find heavy smoke conditions in a double wide mobile home at 5031 Red Oak Rd. Fire was venting from the eaves on the southside of the structure. All occupants were safely out of the building. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed multiple handlines and entered the structure. Most of the fire was in the void space above the living area. Crews quickly knocked down the exterior flames, but had some difficulty reaching the fire in the void space which ran in both directions throughout the space on the front unit of the doublewide. The roof collapsed over a front bedroom and the living room. Firefighters had the fire under control within approximately 30 minutes. Many of the personal items were saved, but the roof and several rooms received substantial damage. It appeared the fire started on the front porch of the residence, traveled up the front of the building and entered the void space. SLED Investigators responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. Units were on the scene for about 5 hours.
