08/May/2021 - Structure Fire - "A" Shift

Incident # 21-03235 - A fire on the stove damaged the kitchen in a home in the 100 block of Shallowford Road Saturday evening 08-May at 19:17. Deputy Chief Greene and an off-duty Firefighter-Paramedic, both of whom live near the residence, arrived a couple of minutes after the dispatch. They found light smoke coming from the home and used a fire extinguisher from Car 105 to extinguish the fire on the stove.and in the cabinets, containing the fire to the area of the kitchen. Engine 18 arrived a short time later. Firefighters used a PPV fan to force smoke from the doublewide mobile home. The stove received substantial damage and the wall behind the stove,as well as the cabinets and hood were also damaged. Crews removed the stove and hood from the home. The fire did not appear to have extended into the wall. The homeowner was treated by Firefighter-Paramedics at the scene for smoke inhalation, but denied ambulance transport to the hospital. 

Engine 1, Engine 18, Tender 1, Tender 4, Tender 26, Medic 1, Medic 18, Battalion 1, Car 105, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Deputy Chief David Greene served as Incident Commander.
