25/June/2021 - MVC w/entrapment & Air Evac - "A" Shift

Incident # 21-04398 - Four people were injured, with one child with suspected critical injuries, in a two car MVC in the 900 block of Robertson Blvd. (SC Hwy 64) Friday morning 25-June at 11:04. The cars collided on Robertson Blvd near Dukes Bar-B-Que Restaurant. An adult female in Lincoln was trapped in her vehicle. She suffered non-life threatening injuries. Three people in a Honda Civic, an adult female and two pediatric females, received traumatic injuries. The adult and youngest child received non-life threatening injuries and were able to walk away from the car. A 12 year old unrestrained female in the back seat received suspected critical injuries and a head injury. She was found unconscious on the floor in the back seat and had been thrown into  the front seat displacing the driver's seat. Firefighter-Paramedics treated her injuries at the scene and immobilized her upon extrication. The CARE Flight helicopter was placed on standby. Fire-Rescue Medic 19  transported her emergent the short distance to the Colleton Medical Center helipad to meet with CARE Flight. Additional Firefighter-Paramedics were on board to assist with her care. She was transferred to the flight Crew, then flown to the Children's Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. Other crew members used Holmatro Rescue Tools to extricate the driver of the Lincoln. She was transported by Fire-Rescue Medic 26 to Colleton Medical Center. The mother and the second child from the Honda were both transported to the Trauma Center at MUSC by Fire-Rescue Medic 1. Robertson Blvd was blocked for over an hour until the accident could be cleared. The Walterboro Police Dept is investigating the crash. 

Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Medic 1, Medic 19, Medic 26, Car 101 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O'Quinn served as Incident COmmander. Walterboro Fire Department Engines 1, 2 and 3 also responded.
