29/June/2021 - MVC w/entrapment & Air Evac. Mutual Aid - "B" Shift

Incident # 21-04529 - Five people were injured in a motor vehicle collision involving multiple vehicles at the 39 mile marker northbound on Interstate 95 in Hampton County.  Hampton County units initially requested a medic unit to assist with transportation of the patients at 16:06, but soon after Medic 13 was dispatched, Hampton requested a heavy rescue and personnel to assist with extrication.  Evidently, an unmarked law enforcement Tahoe was in the median at the 39 mile marker turnaround when a 40 foot motor home entered the median, struck the Tahoe, and continued into the woods, tearing down multiple trees that fell on top of the motor home.  There were five patients in total.  Three were treated by Hampton County units.  One was transported by CCFR Medic 13 to Trident Medical Center.  The fifth patient was heavily entrapped in the passenger side of the motor home.  After approximately 75 minutes of arduous work in the blistering heat, crews safely removed the patient.  This patient was transferred to the CARE Flight helicopter and flown to Trident Medical Center.

Engine 13, Medic 13, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 101, Car 105, Car 107, Car 116, and Car 118 responded.  Hampton County Fire was in Command.
