17/February/2022 - Fire with Rescue - "A" Shift

Incident # 22-01279 - At 14:50 Thursday 17-Feb, Station 19 was dispatched to a residential fire alarm in the 1700 block of Sidneys Road. While responding, the alarm company made  a second call to  notify Colleton 9-1-1 that they could see smoke inside the residence on the security cameras. The incident was upgraded to a structure fire. Engine 19, arrived a short time later and reported the smell of smoke from the yard. Firefighter-Paramedics forced entry through the front door and found the interior of the home charged with smoke. During a search of the home they discovered an unconscious adult female laying on the floor in the kitchen. Crews rescued the woman and carried her from the house to a waiting Fire-Rescue ambulance. Other Firefighters completed the search of the home and found the fire was contained to the oven and had not spread to the structure. A PPV fan was used to remove smoke from the house. Two canines were also found inside the home, but they did not appear to suffer any ill effects. It appears the woman was cooking when she suffered a medical emergency that rendered her unconscious. She was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics, regained consciousness and after about twenty minutes adamantly refused to go to the hospital. She was left in the care of family members. Units were on the scene for 45 minutes.
